Head straight to NZ's famous left hand point break; Raglan, to watch the WSL Championship Tour contesters.
"World Surf League (WSL) announced the addition of Aotearoa, New Zealand, to the schedule for the 2026 Championship Tour (CT). From May 15 - 25, the top 36 men and 24 women will compete at the left-hand point break of Manu Bay, Raglan, located on the west coast of the North Island's Waikato region. The New Zealand Pro joins the calendar as stop number four of WSL's updated CT format and will take place at the optimal time of year for New Zealand's most famous wave."

Raglan is celebrated for its black sand beaches, vibrant arts scene, eco-conscious culture and stunning natural attractions such as Bridal Veil Falls. But mainly, it's world-famous as a premium surfing destination known for it's long left-hand point breaks; Manu Bay, Whale Bay, Indicators + more.





Day 4
Surf Highway 45 - Kaikoura

Continue driving South on Surf Highway 45 towards Wellington

Interislander ferry (cross from North Island to South Island)

Arrive in the South Island at Picton and continue driving South to Kaikoura

Check in at the boutique Mangamaunu Retreat for 2 nights

Evening surf if times permit
Kaikōura - Located on the East Coast of the South Island, is bursting with marine wildlife such as it's sperm whale population, dusky dolphins, seal colonies, and depending on the time of year, humpback whales and orca/killer whales (which are actually dolphins by the way ;))
The month of May marks the beginning of the whale migration period, increasing the chances of seeing humpback whales, blue whales and southern right whales.

Work your way down the Coast, driving the famous Surf Highway 45.. Now it's your time to surf!

Check in at the stunning Surf House for a private sauna and seaviews right next to Stent Road, ready for another surf.
Surf Highway 45 - A scenic coastal route (SH45) on the West Coast of the North Island, stretching from New Plymouth to Hāwera around the Taranaki coastline. Known for consistent and uncrowded breaks, it offers over 29 access points to the ocean.
Think reef breaks, beach breaks and fast left-handers.

Kaikōura hosts one of New Zealand's top rated right-hand point breaks -Mangamaunu, and on it's day it is a pumping world-class wave with one of the most scenic backdrops, along with other many other great waves.
Day 6
Kaikoura - West Coast (via Lewis Pass)

Scenic drive over Lewis Pass to the Wild West Coast

Check in to Fox Hut, near Punakaiki for 2 nights - a rustic boutique hut overlooking the Tasman Sea + a hot tub

Sunset surf if time permits
Scary to some, fully cooking to others - the West Coast of the South Island gets plenty of swell with no crowds at all. The "problem" is usually surfing solo.
Think shingle river mouths, sandy bottoms, rocky outcrop point breaks, hollow, fat, big, small and everything inbetween, with the Paparoa Ranges creating an impressive Mountain to Sea backdrop everywhere you look.

West Coast

*If the departure/arrival times don't work for your flight times, then this will be a scenic car journey via Arthurs Pass to Christchurch instead.

Optional Extra Days
If you're wanting longer than 8 days, we are super flexible and can add on more days/nights to either travel further South, or to slow down and spend longer in the places already mentioned.
On longer trips, we are able to get to our other favourite places to surf like Dunedin, The Catlins and Fiordland.
